The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

thAnnouncing the holiday in a statement released on Tuesday, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, praised Nigerian workers for their dedication, sacrifice, and vital contributions to national development. He emphasized that the efforts of workers are instrumental to Nigeria’s greatness and the respect it commands globally.

“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” Tunji-Ojo stated.

He called on workers across the country to embrace innovation and productivity, stressing the importance of their role in driving industrialisation, improving governance, and ensuring economic growth.

The minister reassured citizens of the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, both for Nigerians and foreigners.

As part of the celebration, Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to remain hopeful, reiterating President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“While wishing workers a happy celebration, the Honourable Minister urged Nigerians to keep hope alive,” the statement concluded.
