
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has reassured Christians of his administration’s commitment to prioritize peace across the State.
Governor Eno gave the assurance during a special worship service at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Itu Diocese, Ekid Itam ll, Itu Local Government Area of the State.
The Governor reminded Christians to always pray for peace which according to him, surpasses some politically motivated attempts to create unnecessary chaos and to distabilise the peaceful coexistence in the State.
“In Akwa Ibom, so many things happened, but the peace in Akwa Ibom State cannot allow them. Don’t worry about all these people who are hiding behind political lines in attempt to create problems. This state raimains Akwa Ibom United. We will continue to do our best.
“Akwa Ibom people have eyes, and they have seen and they know. When the time comes, God will speak to your hearts,” he said.
Governor Eno noted that his decision to worship away from Uyo was a symbolic sacrifice, and in accordance with his obidience to God’s will.
The Governor commended the Presbyter, Reverend Nse Akpan who coincidentally was an aide to the Late Prelate Sunday Mbang, describing him as a cheerful and diligent pastor.”
Governor Eno who was somewhat emotional, recalled the support he enjoyed from the Late Prelate Mbang and the Methodist Church during the Governorship campaigns, and assured of his determination to remain conscientious in his service to the State.
Preaching on the theme “I Will Fight For You” drawn from Exodus 14:13-14 and Matthew 6:25, The pioneer ArchBishop of Itu Diocese, Rt Rev. Dr. Friday Jephter admonished Christians to trust and have confidence in God in the time of tribulation as the Lord has promised to fight all secret battles.
He noted that God is always ready to fight the battle of those who have faith and confidence in Him, and charged them not to depend on their knowledge of physical realities surrounding them.
The clergy charged Christians to develop love and sacrificial heart to others and watch God take over their battles.
