Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has won the All Progressives Congress governorship primary elections conducted across the twenty five local government areas of the state for 2027 general elections

Announcing the results of the direct primary elections, the Returning Officer for Delta State APC governorship primary elections, Sir Vita Abba declared Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the party governorship candidate for second tenure in 2027 election having scored three hundred and forty five thousand, three hundred and seventy five votes .

“I, Engineer Sir Vita Abba, Chairman of the Delta Governorship Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer for the Delta State Governorship Primary Election held on the 21st day of May, 2026, hereby certify that the aspirant, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, scored 345,375 votes,” he declared.

Continuing, Abba said ” Oborevwori, having satisfied the party’s constitutional requirements and secured the highest number of valid votes cast, was duly returned elected as APC governorship candidate for Delta State.”

Breakdown of the primary election results shows that Oborevwori secured highest votes from Ughelli North, Okpe, Oshimili South, Ndokwa West, Uvwie, Ika North East and Warri South local government areas of the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who was the only aspirant for the Delta State APC governorship primary election, commended the APC leadership for conducting what he described as a transparent, peaceful and exemplary primary election.

The Governor who stated this after voting in his Ward in Okpe Local Government Area, said the large turnout across the state’s two hundred and seventy wards demonstrated grassroots participation and reflected the confidence party members had in his leadership.

Governor Oborevwori expressed delight that for the first time in Delta State, APC primaries were conducted peacefully without violence, crisis or loss of lives, with party members given the mandate to freely choose those they wanted.

“I must sincerely appreciate our great party, the APC, for the transparent and exemplary model adopted for this primary election. It is a model worthy of emulation by other political parties,

“For the first time in Delta State, our primaries were conducted peacefully without violence, crisis or loss of lives. Nobody imposed candidates on the people. The people freely chose those they wanted,” Oborevwori stated.

Correspondent Sam Erhunmwunsee reports that security presence was beefed up around the collation centre where the governorship primary election results were announced.
