The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated Comrade Azuka Chiemeka on his re-election as Vice President, South South Zone of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

Guwor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, described Chiemeka’s re-election as a well-deserved recognition of his commitment, professionalism and contributions to sports journalism and sports development in Nigeria.

The Speaker, who is a sports enthusiast and member of SWAN, said the outcome of the election underscored the confidence members of the association reposed in Chiemeka’s leadership.

He noted that Chiemeka had distinguished himself through years of dedicated service to sports journalism, stressing that his wealth of experience would remain invaluable to the association and its members across the South South zone.

“Azuka Chiemeka’s re-election is a testament to his hard work, professionalism and unwavering commitment to the growth of sports journalism.

“It is also a recognition of the confidence his colleagues have in his capacity to provide purposeful leadership,” Guwor stated.

The Speaker expressed optimism that Chiemeka would deploy his renewed mandate to strengthen SWAN, promote the welfare of sports writers and further advance the course of sports journalism across the South South region.

Guwor also congratulated other officials elected during the association’s just-concluded congress, wishing them a successful and impactful tenure.

Chiemeka, a Deputy General Manager in the News and Current Affairs Department of the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri, and Head of its Sports Unit, was returned to office following the SWAN elections.
