Contractors handling various Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC projects have been charged to expedite action to complete the projects as directed by President Bola Tinubu.

Minister of Regional Development Chief Abubakar Momoh who gave the charge during inspection of three key projects, Kaa-Ataba Bridge, Okrika-Borokiri bridge and Niger Delta Regional Hospital in  Rivers State, insisted that the president has given a directive for the completion of key projects in the region that have been abandoned.

The Minister inspected three key projects which were, two Kilometres double lane Kaa-Ataba Road with two bridges measuring one point two Kilometres while the second has a length of two hundred meters,  linking kaa Community in Khana Local Government Area, and Ataba in Andoni Local Government Area Rivers State.

The second project was three point sixty-five kilometres Okrika -Borokiri Road with three bridges to link up Okrika to Port Harcourt Town.

The Minister also Inspected Niger Delta Regional Hospital with special interest in Cardiovascular and orthopaedic issues situated in Port Harcourt Town.

Addressing Newsmen after the inspection, Minister of Regional Development Chief Abubakar Momoh who reaffirmed Federal Government’s Commitment to the development of the region asked the contractors to hasten up the pace of work to complete the projects in record time.

Similarly Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who explained that funds have been earmarked to facilitate speedy completion of the projects expressed optimism that Kaa-Ataba bridge would be delivered this year.

According to Dr. Ogbuku, the commission was leveraging on partnership with development partners to bring to reality the legacy projects.

He revealed that a similar Regional Specialist Hospital was ongoing simultaneously in Ikom Cross River State.

Reacting to the Development, the representative of the Paramount Ruler of Ataba Kingdom in Andoni, Chief Idan-Awaji Erasmus appreciated NDDC for the project saying it would boost economic growth in the locality, while the contractor Mr. Ozuruole Ajie gave assurance of the ability of the company to deliver the project according to specifications.

Among the team that went for the inspection were the Executive Director Projects NDDC Sir.Victor Antai and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Regional Development, Dr.  Mary Ogbe.
