Staff of Protocol Unit Corporate Affairs Directorate Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC have been enjoined to give good representation of the commission.

Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Dr Samuel Ogbuku who gave the advice while declaring open a three-day protocol and Protection bootcamp in Port Harcourt Rivers State, explained that the commission was intentional about capacity development among staff.

The MD who was represented by Executive Director Corporate Services, Otumba Ifedayo Abegunde, told participants that the commission promotes excellence and integrity while engaging with stakeholders.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Emmanuel Metuaghan while speaking on Building a Culture of Excellence in Protocal and security, insisted that protocol requires dedication as it defines the organizational values of any agency.

Dr. Metuaghan who is the Director Planning, Strategy, Cordination Equipment Leasing Registration Authority, emphasized on the importance of International best practices on activities in Protocal observations.


According to him, there was the need to send advance team to perfect arrangements before the arrival of the principal, in every event.


While admitting that NDDC has built Institutional trust in recent times, Dr. Metuaghan stated that Protocol enhances partnership and opens global opportunities.

Also speaking, former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Ambassador Lawrence Obisakin described Protocol as correct order of procedures in every event.
Ambassador Obisakin stated that protocol ensures orderliness, promotes efficiency and upholds the dignity of Office.

According to him, protocol officers must have political awareness and be properly dressed.
