Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Professor Isa Chiroma, has blamed delays in Bar results to Examination malpractices at the Law schools.
Stating this at a House of Representatives Justice Committee hearing where he denied withholding the bar results of students, Professor Chiroma emphasized the school’s strict approach to managing cases of exam malpractice.
In his defence, the Director-General presented pictorial evidence to lawmakers and stated that results are released only after the Council’s formal approval process.
Professor Chiroma further clarified that only successful candidates are eligible for the Call to Bar, in line with statutory provisions.
The House of Representatives Committee Chairman, Olumide Osoba praised the Law School’s use of CCTV and promised budgetary support for nationwide infrastructure upgrades.
Mr Osoba noted that the Committee will embark on oversight function to all the Law Schools across the country with a view to have first hand knowledge of the existing infrastructure put in place.
