
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on all indigenes and residents of the state to embrace unity, solidarity and peaceful coexistence for the continued growth and development of Delta State.
The governor made the call in Asaba during a thanksgiving and praise event organised to appreciate God for the third anniversary of his administration.
Oborevwori described unity among Deltans as a critical factor for the overall progress of the state, stressing that all hands must remain on deck to sustain peace and harmony across the state.
He attributed the successes recorded by his administration over the past three years to the grace, wisdom and mercy of God.
The governor emphasized that all contracts awarded by his administration were backed by available funds, stressing that Delta State had continued to execute projects and meet its obligations to contractors without borrowing.
He said; “today, we are celebrating three years of this administration. Indeed, this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight. I remain eternally grateful to God for finding me worthy to serve the people of Delta State in this capacity”.
The Delta State Governor commended traditional rulers, religious leaders ,political stakeholders and security agencies for their support, while also appreciating former governors, James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa, for laying solid foundations upon which his administration is building.
Oborevwori assured Deltans that his administration would leave behind enduring legacies that would stand the test of time.
Delivering a sermon at the event, Apostle Joshua Selman commended the Delta State Government for institutionalising a yearly thanksgiving and praise programme every May 29, noting that “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
Quoting Psalm 92:12-15, the cleric stated that those who diligently serve God would flourish like palm trees. He also highlighted principles for sustained success in life, business and leadership, including abiding in Christ, staying focused, courage, humility and striving for greater accomplishments.
The colourful thanksgiving and praise event attracted Delta State Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, former governors, members of the National and State Assemblies, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other dignitaries, while guest artistes and choirs thrilled attendees with music ministrations.
