Leaders, stakeholders and people of Oro Nation have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Umo Eno for a second term in office, citing his visible development strides and commitment to transforming the area.

This was announced at the Oron Township Stadium during a gathering of supporters and stakeholders from across the Oro federal constituency. Speaking on behalf of the people, Martins Esin, representing the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said the Governor had demonstrated exceptional leadership through projects and policies that have directly impacted lives in the area. The motion for endorsement was moved by Hon. Esio Okwong Udo and seconded by Hon. Peter Linus Umoh.

Responding, Governor Eno thanked the people for their trust, loyalty and solidarity, particularly during the APC primaries, and assured them of continued commitment to the development of Oro Nation and the wider state if re-elected.

Earlier in Oron, the Governor commissioned five major projects as part of his administration’s ARISE Agenda, including the Ibom Model Primary Health Centre, a Youth Development Centre, the 4.2-kilometre Effiong Esang and Ukpong streets with 800 metres of discharge drains, and a new administrative building at the Oron Local Government Council headquarters.

Commissioning the Ibom Model Primary Health Centre, Governor Eno urged residents to make use of the facility to improve access to quality healthcare. The Commissioner for Health, Emmanuel John Ekem, said the centre would serve as a support hub for other primary healthcare facilities in the Oron area.

At the inauguration of the Youth Development Centre — the first of its kind in the state — the Governor said similar centres would be replicated across all 31 local government areas. He encouraged young people to maximise the opportunities available through the facility’s ICT, creativity, fashion and design units.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Ekerete Ekanem described the centre as a complete package for youth empowerment and economic transformation.

While commissioning the newly completed roads, Governor Eno said the project not only delivers infrastructure but also ends years of hardship caused by erosion and poor road conditions in the affected communities. Commissioner for Works, Eno Ibanga, said the intervention has permanently addressed the erosion challenge in the area.

The Governor also inaugurated the new administrative building at the Oron Local Government Council headquarters, commending Council Chairman Hon. Okon Asukwo Enmewe for his dedication to service and excellence.

In her remarks, Akon Eyakenyi praised the Governor’s developmental strides across Oron and Oro Nation, while describing the projects as historic and transformative for the Oro people.
