The management of Ossiomo Power Company has raised concerns over the alleged continued vandalization of its facilities in Ologbo, Edo State, despite giving more than one hundred and eighty two million naira as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the host community.
The company alleged that the unwholesome activities of some of the Ologbo people has seriously negated the fulfilment of the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to provide round the clock electricity to Nigerians.
According to the company, some of the youths were allegedly influenced by a Chinese firm known as Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd (CCETC), which they accused of illegally and forcefully gaining access to its gas plant at the Ossiomo Industrial Park.
It explained that the development had prevented it from supplying electricity to consumers in parts of Edo State and urged the relevant authorities to intervene.
Speaking with newsmen, site engineer
Ossiomo Power Company, Mr Ekwe Francis Chukwuma said the gas plant had allegedly been disrupted by local youths led by Felix Okotie since November 2025.
He said for “nearly one year, the company has been forcefully and illegally put out of business. We are getting sick and tired of this situation because our teeming customers are wallowing in darkness and the company’s investment is in jeopardy just because of the people who feel they are above the law.”
He alleged that Mr Felix Okotie had repeatedly led youths from the Ologbo community to vandalise the company’s property, while another individual,Mr Osaretin Omorodion, was reportedly responsible for the vandalisation of the 33KV power lines.
When contacted, Mr Okotie who described himself as the taskforce chairman of the electricity of the Ologbo community, and some of his associates said they do not recognise Ossiomo Power Company in the community,
They alleged that their activities were aimed at protecting the Chinese firm (CCETC) and claimed that their actions have the backing of the elders and people of the Ologbo community and referred journalists to the secretary of the dukedom, Mr Friday Osazuwa, for further information on the issue.
Efforts to obtain comments from Mr Osazuwa and the, chairman of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Council,
Mr Eric Osawaru were unsuccessful as they did not respond to calls and messages sent to their phones.
