Governor Umo Eno has called on political stakeholders, party faithful, and residents of Akwa Ibom State to approach the forthcoming party primaries with peace, maturity, and a strong sense of responsibility, stressing that the stability of the state must remain above personal political ambitions.

Governor Eno made the appeal at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, shortly after returning from a successful screening exercise ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Addressing journalists on arrival, the Governor emphasized the need for political actors to conduct themselves with decorum before, during, and after the primaries, warning against actions capable of threatening the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed in the state.

According to him, the peace and unity of the state are priceless and must be protected by all political interests and stakeholders regardless of party affiliations or ambitions.

“Out of the primaries, we should keep the peace, we should keep the unity of the party and of the state,” Governor Eno said.

“I believe that for the peace of our state, nothing is too much to sacrifice, no ground is too much to shift, so that we can continue to maintain and consolidate on the peace and peaceful nature of our state.”

The Governor noted that while political contests are a normal part of democracy, such exercises should not divide the people or create unnecessary tension within the polity.

He urged aspirants and their supporters to see the primaries as an internal democratic process that should strengthen rather than weaken the collective interest of the people.

“Please let us approach the primaries with decorum. Let us understand that in all of this, our state remains after the primaries,” he added.

Governor Eno further appealed to members of political parties to avoid inflammatory statements, violence, and acts capable of causing unrest, insisting that the unity and continued progress of the state must take precedence over individual aspirations.

The Governor also expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for their cooperation and support, urging them to continue working together to sustain peace, stability, and development across the state.
