
The National Pension Commission, PENCOM has rolled out reforms in the contributory Pension scheme geared towards enhancing the sector and guarantee dignity in retirement.
The Director General, PENCOM, Ms Omolola Oloworaran stated this at a two- day sensitisation workshop on the workings of the contributory Pension scheme for employees, Pension desks officers and pensioners of federal Government treasury- funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies in South South region organised by the National Pension Commission in collaboration with the National salaries, income and wages commission held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.

The Director General, PENCOM, Ms Omolola Oloworaran who was represented by the director, contribution and bond Redemption Department, PENCOM, Mr Usman Musa noted that the sensitisation taking place in the six Geo- political zones in the country and the FCT is to enlighten stakeholders on the reforms in the pension scheme.
The Pencom boss stressed that approval has been secured for the issuance of ₦758 billion bonds to clear long-standing pension obligations, including pension increases owed since 2007.
On his part the Chairman National salaries, income and wages commission, Mr Ekpo Nta who was represented by the head of Compensation, Mr Akin Abe gave an overview of the Pension act.
The Chairman, South South Pension Desk Officer, Mrs Eno Obiosio expressed satisfaction at the reforms noting that it will help the process of payment of retirement benefits.
The National orientation agency also made presentations during the event.
