
– Assures of FG’s Support to Bayelsa, Combat Insecurity & Economic Challenges in Nation
President Bola Tinubu says the Federal Government will continue to take measures to tackle the security and economic challenges confronting the country while pledging partnership with States to foster development.
The President gave the assurance at a stakeholders meeting at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa shortly after he inaugurated some major projects executed by the Bayelsa State government.

At the stakeholders meeting, President Tinubu who requested for a minute silence in honour of soldiers who lost their lives to terrorists attacks and a former Governor of the State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha described the projects in Bayelsa as transformative, commending the State government for according priority to the development of the area.
The President who reiterated the commitment of his administration to tackling the security and economic challenges confronting the country promised to take action on the request for reimbursement on expenditure on federal road projects, promising more support to the State.
Earlier in an address, Governor Douye Diri who thanked President Tinubu for honouring the invitation said the newly inaugurated projects constitute a strategic investment aimed at developing the State.

The Governor while acknowledging the Federal government’s support through waivers for the importation of gas turbines and other equipment for the State Independent power project and award of contract for phase two of the Nembe-Brass road, appealed that same be extended to the Sagbama-Ekeremor-Agge and the Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukibie road projects as well as reimbursements for the phases already completed by the Bayelsa State government.
The aircraft carrying the President touched down at the Bayelsa Airport near Amassoma at about 2.40pm accompanied by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and other top officials of the Federal and State governments.
The President’s itinerary began with the Inauguration of the two point nine kilometer dualized New Yenagoa City Road One connecting the State owned Airport and the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas base at Obunagha to the Onopa area of the State capital as part of the urban renewal programme of the State.
He also inaugurated the six hundred and thirty metre Angiama-Oporoma Bridge which connects Yenagoa to coastal communities across the River Nun in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, a project which had been in the drawing board for over six decades before its execution by the present Administration.
President Tinubu also formally switched on the sixty megawatts gas turbine plant at Elebele, near Yenagoa which will provide stable electricity to Yenagoa and its environs.
