Radio Nigeria South-South Zone has stepped up efforts to improve its visibility with the unveiling of a new signage at its premises within the NTA compound in Port Harcourt.
For 22 years, many people in Port Harcourt drove past the NTA compound without knowing that Radio Nigeria was right there inside.
But today, that has changed, as a brand new, brightly lit signage now stands proudly at the entrance with Big letters: *Radio Nigeria South-South Zone.*
It was unveiled by the Zonal Director, Mr. Fred Shaka-Braimah who explained that the initiative is expected to create greater public awareness, attract more clients and boost business opportunities for the station.
“When I resumed as the Zonal Director, South-South, the first thing I noticed was that we were not visible. Because each time we go out on a courtesy visit, and we say Radio Nigeria, people begin to ask, “Where is Radio Nigeria?” Except you say NTA premises, nobody knows Radio Nigeria. Even those that know Treasure FM don’t know that it belongs to Radio Nigeria. It gave me concern because I felt Radio Nigeria is a brand that cannot be ignored”.
Mr. Shaka-Braimah said that the new signage will also attract opportunities for more partnerships and business engagements
“The advantage to me is that it will help our marketing strategy. In the sense that, those who are not ready to do business with us at the level of Treasure FM—because of the stiff competition among other FM stations—have no choice, they will not reject us, cannot ignore us, because Radio Nigeria has the widest reach and you cannot not beat the reach” said Mr. Saka Brimah.
Also sharing in the excitement is the Zonal Director NTA, Mr. Paul Atte.
He congratulated his counterpart in FRCN, Saying that the signage gives Radio Nigeria the visibility it deserves.
” Kudos to the Zonal Director and his team. It’s a good foresight because it would drive more mileage to FRCN, Treasure FM, and, despite that you are cohabiting with NTA, you need to tell people where you are. It is good, great job that needs applause here and there”.
The staff of the station are also not left out .
Confidence Ilera, a sports reporter said “When I saw it at first, you know, I was very, very excited. It will also announce FRCN louder now because everybody that is passing has seen that, “Oh wow, Radio Nigeria is here.”
Desire Lordson , Controller News also said “I want to say a very big thank you to the management for thinking about that. It never crossed my mind about mounting a signpost. It’s very beautiful, very, very beautiful. Kudos and congratulations to Radio Nigeria South-South family”.
Outside the gate, residents and passers-by who stopped to look at the new signage equally expressed their delight on the development
A passerby who simply gave his name as Jay said : I didn’t know there’s a radio station in NTA premises. It got my attention and made me know that there’s actually a radio station inside this premises.
Another passerby Queen Elechi said she was aware that there was a radio station inside the NTA premises, but she did not know the name . The signage has made her to now know the name of the Radio Station as Treasure FM”.
Yet another passerby Timinu Wills was impressed about the color combination of the signage.
“I must say the color combination is beautiful and eye-catching ” , he said.
With that big signage now mounted at the entrance, Radio Nigeria South-South Zone is no longer hiding in plain sight.
It is announced to Port Harcourt and the entire South-South that the station is open for business.
