President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for demonstrating vision, commitment and continuity in governance through the completion and inauguration of the new terminal at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.
President Tinubu gave the commendation while inaugurating the new airport terminal and other projects within the aviation corridor during his official visit to Akwa Ibom State.
The President, who described the occasion as a homecoming, recalled his earlier association with the state in his professional capacity as a Mobil auditor, expressing delight that he had returned years later as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inaugurate an airport that represents a significant milestone in the state’s development.
He particularly acknowledged the presence of members of the National Assembly, from the Senate to the House of Representatives, singling out the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for his effective leadership and stewardship of the National Assembly.
President Tinubu praised the vision behind the airport project, noting that its successful completion reflected the transformation of an idea into reality and the importance of continuity in governance.
He described Governor Eno as a man of conscience, commitment and vision, commending him for sustaining and advancing the development agenda initiated by his predecessor.
The President also recalled that Governor Eno had sought Federal Government approval for international flight operations at the airport, explaining that he readily granted the request after reviewing the submission and considering the state’s development record and achievements.
According to him, the airport represents more than an aviation facility, as it will strengthen human connections, promote integration and cultural diversity, facilitate movement and create opportunities for economic prosperity.
He expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the project and the opportunity to witness the transformation of the state’s aviation infrastructure.
President Tinubu subsequently declared the Victor Attah International Airport inaugurated, marking a significant moment in Akwa Ibom State’s drive to expand its aviation capacity and strengthen its position as an emerging destination for investment, tourism and economic activities.
