
Vice President, Kashim Shettima says the All Progressives Congress has become stronger and better with the defection of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori along with the entire PDP members, including immediate past Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to the APC.
The Vice President who spoke at the Cenotaph, Asaba, during the official defection of the Delta State Governor and thousands of party chieftains, members and supporters , said the APC remains grateful to the governor for taking the bold decision to join the All Progressives Congress.

Vice President Shettima who described the defection as a political tsunami of an unimaginable proportion that was the first of its kind in the South South geopolitical zone, said nothing could be greater than that.
”Today, it is not just merely receiving new , members into the APC. This is a declaration that the spirit of our great nation is alive; the that goes beyond personal ambition and beyond party lines. Nigeria is greater than all of us, and what we do here today is a step towards strengthening the nation’s progress ”, stated Shettima.
While receiving the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori along with former PDP leaders, members and supporters, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje thanked President Bola Tinubu for providing good leadership in the country which he said has become the hallmark of APC controlled states.
He said the National Working Committee of theAPC was impressed with the political harmony between the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa which according to him, was not common in the country.
Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma expressed delight that APC governors were at the ceremony in their large number to receive Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who he commended for his administration’s giant strides in infrastructural development.
He said ” APC is a party based on ideology; protect our national interest and seeks to develop our country and expand political horizon. “.
In a remark, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori who described the defection as a movement, said the decision to join the APC was taken after consultation with all stakeholders at the national, state, senatorial, local government areas and and ward levels.
”We have been in opposition for almost ten years. We don’t need that. President Bola Tinubu has supported and showed love to Delta State in terms of infrastructural projects and we need to reciprocate the good gesture by joining APC”, emphasized Oborevwori.
The event which brought together prominent politicians in the state who had been political rivalries for years , was attended by sixteen APC governors, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Kayemo; APC Senators and members of House of Representatives from Delta State and beyond ;2023 Delta APC Governorship Candidate and former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege among others.
