The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Friday Ovoke Warri, has convened a high-level security stakeholders’ meeting aimed at strengthening safety measures and tackling emerging security challenges in the council area.

The strategic meeting, held at the council secretariat in Oleh, brought together key security agencies, host community leaders and representatives of the Arewa community to deliberate on proactive steps to safeguard lives and property amid rising security concerns across the country.

Addressing participants, Warri stressed that the prevailing security situation in Nigeria requires heightened vigilance, stronger collaboration and effective communication among security agencies and community stakeholders.

He said a united, proactive and intelligence-driven approach remains critical to sustaining peace and security in Isoko South.

As part of measures to improve security, the council chairman directed that every member of the Arewa community in Isoko South must possess an identification card detailing their trade or economic activities.

He noted that the move became necessary following concerns over indiscriminate cattle grazing on farmlands and the activities of some scavengers, adding that proper identification would reduce security risks, improve environmental sanitation and enhance community monitoring.

Warri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting residents and assured that the council would continue working closely with security agencies to preserve law and order.

In his response, the newly appointed Sarkin of the Arewa community in Isoko South, Nasiru Ruwa, pledged to foster peaceful coexistence and stronger cooperation between Arewa residents and their host communities.

A major highlight of the meeting was the adoption of the “See Something, Say Something” campaign to encourage residents and community leaders to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

Participants also agreed that making the Divisional Police Officer’s official phone number publicly available would improve communication and ensure quicker emergency response.

Those in attendance included the Divisional Police Officer of Oleh, a representative of the Department of State Services, community leaders from Oleh and representatives of the Hausa community led by their leader
