OVER TWO THOUSAND RESIDENTS OF UKANA IKOT NTUEN COMMUNITY BENEFIT FROM NDDC FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH

Over two thousand residents of Ukana Ikot Ntuen Community in Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State have benefited from free medical outreach organized by Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The Executive Director Projects NDDC, Sir victor Antai who made this known while declaring open the programme, described it as one of the flagship programmes of the commission, meant to cater for the health needs of Niger Delta region. 

Just as the saying goes, that  health is wealth, the Free medical outreach is one of the major programmes of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, meant to provide for the  health well-being of the people of the region in addition to infrastructural Development of rural communities.  

The Executive Director Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC,  sir Victor Antai  who declared the outreach  open noted that free medical outreach has been an integral part of  NDDC activities put up  to cater for the health status of the people. 

Sir Antai who expressed happiness that many residents have been treated of different ailments, attributed the relaunch of the programme stopped years back to the determination of the present management to have positive impact on the lives of  the people. 

According to him, the free medical outreach would be replicated in other NDDC states across Niger Delta Region. 

Giving details about the  one week outreach, the NDDC Director, Education Health and Social Services, Dr. George Uzonwanne who explained that over one  hundred surgeries have been performed including  six successful  ceasarian sessions  among which was a set of  twins, insisted that both economic and social impact of the outreach was huge. 

Dr. Uzonwanne expressed confidence on the quality of medical services provided during the outreach considering the vast experiences of the medical team. 

Reacting to the development, two of the Beneficiaries, Theresa Uweh and Itohowo  Umo who delivered through ceasarian session described the gesture as heartwarming.

The Beneficiaries appropriated NDDC for taking care of their health needs and  pleaded that the programme be sustained.
