NDDC COMMITS TO SPEEDY COMPLETION OF ARMY JETTY IN WARRI

Executive Director Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, sir Victor Antai says the commission is determined to complete Ongoing Army Jetty in Warri Delta State.

Sir Antai who made the commitment during inspection of the facility in Warri said the contract would be re-assigned to another contractor with bigger capacity to facilitate speedy completion. 

The Jetty which is expected to enhance Army Operation when completed would have ten landing bays, a fuel dump, two helipads, an armoury, one point four kilometre internal road, accommodation for about one hundred officers, a clinic, parade ground among others. 

Speaking during a tour of the Jetty, situated behind Warri Refinery Delta State, the Executive Director Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Sir Victor Antai who expressed optimism of the readiness of NDDC to complete the project, noted that security was  a catalyst to development.

Sir Antai who explained that the contract would be reassigned to another contractor stated that the measure was to fast track the completion of the Jetty to enable the Army provide adequate security in Niger Delta region especially at the maritime domain. 

On his part, a representative of Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Eke Odoemele who identified the jetty as a very important base to the Army, told NDDC that the facility would be useful for quick responses to distress calls within maritime environment.

While appreciating NDDC for the project, Brigadier General Odoemele who is 46 Brigade Engineer Commander   insisted that the jetty would be a big boost to Nigerian Army activities in the area. 

In a related development, the EDP also inspected ongoing Delta State permanent site complex in Warri.
