NDDC COMMITS TO SPEEDY COMPLETION OF REGIONAL CARDIOVASCULAR AND ORTHOPEDIC HOSPITAL IN PORT HARCOURT

Managing Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel says efforts will be intensified to fast track the completion of ongoing cardiovascular and orthopedic Hospital in old Port Harcourt Town.

 Dr. Ogbuku who made the commitment during inspection of the project in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Rivers State, noted that the drive to complete the project and other legacy projects was in line with the directive of Mr. President. 

According to the managing director, Niger Delta region was in need of specialist hospitals to cater for their health concerns.

 He insisted that apart from health needs and job creation, it would also prevent capital flight.

“Because funds have already been expended, we just want to ensure that we add value to those funds by finishing them for the use of the people of Niger Delta.”

“This is a hospital for cardiovascular and orthopedic purposes, it is a specialist hospital, this is what we are looking for in Niger Delta, that we have specialist hospitals to attract people from different parts of the world.”

 The Chief Executive Officer of the interventionist agency explained that the commission intends to partner organizations that have proven pedigree in hospital management to run the facility for maximum benefits. 

He expressed displeasure over under- utilization and abandonment of previous hospitals and health care centers handed over to state governments in the past. 

The Managing Director of NDDC gave assurance that the regional specialist hospital would be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities according to international standards. 

The Executive Director Projects, EDP,  Mr. Victor Antai, who accompanied the Managing Director on the project was optimistic that the regional hospital would be gainful for the residents of Niger Delta region and the nation at large.
