The l
ate former President Muhammadu Buhari has been described as a man strict in discipline and of unwavering integrity in his efforts to implement policies to improve the wellbeing of Nigerians.
A social commentator, Mr Christain Lekia who made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria expressed sadness over the news of former president Buhari’s demise.
Mr Lekia recalled some of his effective policies which was geared towards re-orientating Nigerians and developing the entire nation.
”As a head of states he would be remembered for War Against Indiscipline, WAI he did that with General Tinde Idiagbon. That was able to instill some mm measure of discipline into Nigerians who were reckless. Prior to his presidency, during his campaign Muhammadu Buhari during his visit to the Night Delta particularly Ogoniland promised the people should he emerge he was going to activate the report of United Nation Environment Programme to clean- up Ogoniland he kept to his word and make good his promise”, he explained.
However, Mr Lekia pointed out his weaknesses during his tenure as the president of the nation attributing them to drawbacks experienced when transiting from military to civilian.
”There is a difficulty acting under a military regime and that of civilian democracy and that was the problem he had ad a president.
A lot of people perceived him as being slow, he even acknowledged himself being referred to as ‘Baba Go Slow’ at a certain point in his presidency.
We also know that taking decisions and implementing policies under a democracy is more detailed and collective thete are checks and counter checks and thase are not the traditions the military officers are used to,” he added.
The analyst expressed condolence to Nigerians for the irreparable lost.
