
Concerted efforts are being made to facilitate rapid development of rural communities in Niger Delta Region.
Managing Director NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who made this known in Ogu, Ogu bolo Local Government Area Rivers State, during confarement of Chieftancy tittle on him as the ‘Pere Se Gbu Gbo’ of Ogu Kingdom, meaning, he who comes with abundance.
Dr. Ogbuku who acknowledged that the honour done him was in recognition of the projects executed by NDDC in the community, insisted that days of project abandonment by the commission were over.

“We have carried out projects in the rural areas of Niger Delta, we have received several HONOURS and awards, but this one is special because, it is traditional.
When people say they appreciate you, it is an application for more. So, all the accolades and awards have challenged us to do more for the people of Niger Delta. In this year 2026, we will inaugurate many completed projects.”
Introducing the recipient, Chairman planning Committee, Senator Thompson Sekibo admitted that Dr. Ogbuku has been instrumental in the changes in NDDC which has led to rapid Development of Niger Delta region.
Senator Sekibo described Dr. Ogbuku an accomplished administrator and development agent.
According to him, Dr. Ogbuku was worthy of the honour, giving his achievements in education, administration, leadership and traditional institution.
Similarly, the Chairman, Ogu Council of Chiefs, Chief Lawrence Egbelekpeke who was elated over infrastructural face lift in the community by NDDC, said five plots of land have been allocated to the recipient to build his residential home.
The Chairman explained that the Chieftancy title accorded him full rights as a bonafide son of Ogu.
Side attractions at the event were performances by dancing troupes and boat regattas.
