The AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE has celebrated the Oba of Benin, Ewuare the second, on the occasion of his 10th Coronation Anniversary.
A statement by the Movement describes the Oba of Benin, as a fearless and progressive first-class King who has championed cultural revival and preservation as well as administrative reforms and social justice.
It highlights some of the successes of the Oba of Benin to include negotiation for the return of looted Benin Bronzes from foreign institutions such as the University of Aberdeen and Jesus College, Cambridge, the Netherlands, and others.
It says that the Oba Benin, prevented enemies of the Kingdom, whose intention was to re-loot returned stolen artifacts, by championing the construction of the BENIN ROYAL MUSEUM where the returned artifacts will be kept permanently.
The statement maintains that the efforts of the Benin Monarch by placing spiritual curses on human traffickers and native doctors involved in the practice, has reduced the menace and received global commendation.
It thanks the Benin Monarch for establishing the Oba Ewuare the second Foundation, and through the AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE, initiated a 2-month Entrepreneurship Workshop which provides skills acquisition training and support for vulnerable individuals and offers free health programmes to Edo people on a yearly basis.
The statement appreciates the Oba of Benin for inaugurating the Oba Ewuare the second Satellite Town project to boost decentralization, economic activity, and youth empowerment as well as promoting peaceful co-existence amongst Edo residents and Nigerians.
