The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugbra, has concluded the Isoko North Council Empowerment Programme across all wards of the local government, recording over 5,000 beneficiaries.

The second phase of the exercise covered Emevor Wards 11 and 12, Ellu Ward 04, Aradhe/Ovrode Ward 05, Ofagbe Ward 06, Okpe-Isoko Ward 13, and Oyede Wards 18 and 19, with 200 beneficiaries drawn from each ward.

The exercise also featured an empowerment session conducted by the Vice Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Barr. Evelyn Aluta, at the council secretariat in Ozoro.

Speaking during the exercise, Ogorugbra commended the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the laudable initiative, which he said had helped empower constituents, improve livelihoods and promote entrepreneurship by supporting small-scale businesses across Isoko North Local Government Area.

The council chairman noted that the initiative was focused on providing resources and opportunities to enable individuals and small-business owners to achieve economic growth, financial independence and self-reliance.

He said, “Empowerment programmes remain a vital pathway to sustainable development because they directly improve people’s lives and create opportunities for them to become economically independent. As a government, we recognise that investing in our people is one of the most effective ways to build stronger communities and improve the standard of living of our residents.

“This initiative is not just about providing support to beneficiaries; it is also about encouraging entrepreneurship, strengthening small businesses and giving our people the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the economic development of Isoko North. When individuals are empowered, families become stronger, businesses grow, and communities benefit. I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for his commitment to initiatives that promote grassroots development and improve the welfare of our people.

“His administration’s development agenda continues to provide opportunities for local governments to bring meaningful interventions closer to the people. I urge all beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support received by investing wisely in their businesses and other productive ventures. The objective is to ensure that the benefits extend beyond the immediate assistance and translate into sustainable livelihoods, improved economic activities and lasting progress across our communities.”

Ogorugbra further emphasised that the programme was designed to uplift constituents, expand access to economic opportunities and promote inclusive development, adding that investing in people remained essential to building a prosperous and sustainable Isoko North.

Attendees and beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards inclusive development. They stressed the importance of sustaining empowerment efforts to create lasting progress for residents of Isoko North and Delta State at large.
