The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has declared its commitment to an issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections, promising to focus on governance, development and the welfare of residents rather than political distractions.
The party also assured that its campaign activities would be guided by responsibility, decorum and respect for political opponents, as it prepares to formally flag off its campaign at Oleh Township Stadium in Isoko South Local Government Area.
The State Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the APC Campaign Council, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, gave the assurance in Asaba during a press briefing ahead of the rally.
Aniagwu said the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remained focused on delivering its development agenda, insisting that the commencement of political activities would not distract the government from governance and improving the welfare of Deltans.
The APC spokesman stressed that the party believed campaigns should revolve around issues that directly affect the people, including economic growth, job creation, infrastructure and improved living conditions.
He recalled that Governor Oborevwori campaigned in 2023 on the promise of delivering MORE dividends of democracy, adding that the administration was now presenting MORE Plus as a platform for consolidating its achievements and advancing its development agenda.
Aniagwu called on party members, supporters and residents from the 25 Local Government Areas of the state to attend the campaign flag-off at Oleh Township Stadium.
He explained that the choice of Oleh was informed by its strategic and central location, which would make the venue accessible to participants from the three senatorial districts.
He further disclosed that subsequent campaign rallies would be organised on a local government basis to provide opportunities for more direct engagement with residents and communities across the state.
On preparations for the event, Aniagwu assured that adequate security arrangements and logistics had been put in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly rally.
He urged political stakeholders and Deltans to embrace peaceful participation, issue-based discussions and responsible political engagement as the 2027 electioneering process gathers momentum.
