The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially flagged off its 2027 election campaign in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other prominent party leaders calling on Deltans to deliver massive votes for President Bola Tinubu, the governor and all APC candidates.
The campaign rally attracted top political leaders, stakeholders and party faithful from across the state, who pledged their commitment to securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Oborevwori said his administration’s decision to join the APC followed extensive consultations with stakeholders and was driven by the need to align Delta State with the Federal Government to accelerate development.
He commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, noting that increased revenue allocations had enhanced the financial capacity of state and local governments to execute projects and meet their obligations.
The governor disclosed that 17,500 Delta students had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), urging more eligible students to take advantage of the initiative.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education and healthcare, Oborevwori also revealed that the State Executive Council had approved the construction of divisional police headquarters across the state’s 25 local government areas in anticipation of the proposed establishment of state police.
At a subsequent rally in Ozoro, Oborevwori appealed to the Isoko people to support his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, an indigene of Isoko North, by voting massively for the APC.
He urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure victory for all APC candidates at the polls.
Also speaking at the Ozoro rally, the governor’s wife called on the Isoko nation to support President Tinubu, her husband and other APC candidates.
Describing the ballot as a powerful instrument of political expression, she declared: “Your vote is your voice, your strength and your weapon. Use it to vote for APC.”
Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, said the Oborevwori administration had recorded significant progress in road infrastructure, education and healthcare, urging Deltans to sustain their support.
APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, presented party flags to the party’s candidates for the Delta South Senatorial District, Isoko Federal Constituency and the various State Assembly constituencies.
He charged party faithful to take the campaign to their respective polling units and secure victory for the party.
Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa challenged APC members to work towards delivering more than two million votes for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, stressing that the party must also win across all elective positions.
Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, acknowledged the economic challenges confronting Nigerians but urged citizens to remain hopeful, expressing confidence that the Federal Government’s reforms were beginning to yield positive results.
National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Felix Morka, expressed delight at the massive turnout, which he compared to the party’s national campaign rallies. He maintained that the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms were designed to address the country’s challenges.
The Isoko South Campaign Council Coordinator, Itiako Ikpokpo, and his Isoko North counterpart, Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore, joined other party leaders in mobilising support for the party’s candidates.
Member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Hon. Julius Pondi, commended the governor’s commitment to youth appointments and empowerment, while Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, pledged the support of women for the party.
Former Delta APC governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, alongside Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay and Ovie Umuakpor, also reaffirmed their support for the party and its candidates.
In his remarks, Chief Solomon Ogba highlighted the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Oleh and the planned dualisation of the Oleh Roundabout-Iyede Road as major development projects expected to benefit the Isoko nation.
