Delta State Governor ,Sheriff Oborevwori has emphasized the need for youths in the state who are mentally, medically and physically fit to apply for the ongoing 89th Regular recruits intake of the Nigerian Army.

Governor Oborevwori spoke through the the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary services, chaired by the Commissioner for Youth Development, ThankGod Trakiriowei, at Oniocha-South and Warri South West Local Government Areas sensitization for youth enrolment in the ongoing 89th Regular recruits intake of the Nigerian Army.

The Delta State Governor disclosed that the closing date for applicants of Delta State origin had been extended from 17th to 24th May, 2025 due to glitches experienced online, while listing some of the benefits of serving in the Military to include; juicy salary, opportunity to further education to any level at the expense of the federal government, and that service in the military and paramilitary is pensionable, prestigious and fulfilling.He appealed to all eligible youths to apply online free of charge at the Nigerian Army Recruitment official website; https://recruitment.army.mil.ng

The Governor disclosed that the Army had reviewed the entry qualification downward from 4 credit passes at two sitting to 4 passes only, including English language for all applicants, Trades and Non-Trades men and women in the ongoing Nigerian Army 89th Regular recruits intake, making it very attractive for youths to get enlisted.

Governor Oborevwori gave an assurance that the state government would provide buses at strategic locations across the three senatorial districts to convey shortlisted applicants to and from Asaba for the screening exercise scheduled to take place from June 2-16, 2025.He urged local government chairmen, heads of faith based organisations and traditional rulers to encourage and assist their constituents, members and subjects to apply for recruitment during the entire exercise.

Making their remarks, Council Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, as well as Council Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Area, Chief Sylvester Oromoni, encouraged their youths and eligible constituents present at the sensitization programme to spread the goodness to their friends and relatives, assuring them of their readiness to assist financially and otherwise, so as to ensure that they get enlisted in the ongoing 89th Regular recruits intake of the Nigerian Army.

The Council Chairmen commended governor Oborevwori’s visionary leadership, and excellent performance within two years in office. They thanked the governor for setting up the awareness committee, while assuring the state government of their maximum cooperation in the drive to enlist more Delta youths into military and paramilitary services.

The Committee Chairman, and Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr ThankGod Trakiriowei, said the number of Delta applicants recruited into Military and Paramilitary services increased since the committee commenced awareness campaign, assuring that Delta will in the ongoing recruitment exercise fill up her quota as directed by the State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Meanwhile, the Committee Head of Media and Communications, and Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has said that all military and paramilitary recruitments are in line with the Renewed Hope for MORE agenda of the federal and state governments, and hinted that the committee would continue to sensitive Delta youths to take advantage of the ongoing Nigerian Army 89th Regular recruits intake, and other Recruitments in the armed forces and Paramilitary services.

The Delta State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary services is currently on a sensitization and awareness creation tour of local government areas to educate youths on the numerous advantages of serving Nigeria through the armed forces and Paramilitary services.
