At least three children have lost their lives following a tragic boat mishap near Ikebiri one community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Reports say the accident happened in the early hours of Wednesday incident when a wooden commercial boat traveling from Azuzuama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area to Yenagoa, the state capital reportedly capsized near Ikebiri-One community.
Eyewitness say the fatal accident occurred at about 1 a.m., with preliminary findings suggesting possible overloading and a malfunctioning water pumping machine as contributing factors.
The victims, two boys and a girl aged between six and fifteen years, were asleep when the boat overturned and were initially declared missing.
Local divers have since recovered all three bodies, which have been returned to Azuzuama community.
