‎ In recent times, the activities of Man’s inhumanity to man have become so alarming with terrific frequency.‎

The rate of killings in Nigeria has reached its peak that one begins to wonder if taking another person ‘s life is now part of human activities. ‎‎

“Man’s inhumanity to man” in Nigeria manifests through severe social, economic, and physical violence, is often driven by corruption, systemic inequality, and a breakdown in moral values. Key facets of the issue include the exploitation of vulnerable children:
This is a situation where children from poor backgrounds are frequently exploited as house helps. They are subjected to forced labor, denied education and food, sexually harassed, and in extreme cases, beaten to death by their masters or madams.

‎ There is also the issue of violent crime and Banditry where bandits, kidnappers, and criminal gangs inflict “excruciating pains” on innocent citizens, through kidnapping for ransom, destroying farmlands, and brutal killings.

‎ Brutal murder for economic gain is another issue, where colleagues destroy each other due to greed, Jealousy, easy provocation and lack of understanding.

‎Modern Day Slavery and Trafficking equally fuels killings as Nigerians are sometimes lured into trafficking, resulting in forced labor and sexual exploitation, both within and outside the country. These acts and many others reflect a deeper crisis where moral considerations are often abandoned for greed or self-preservation.

Putting an end to wanton killings in Nigeria requires a multi-faceted approach by addressing the security, legal, social, and economic root causes.

Key solutions proposed by security experts, human rights organizations, and community leaders include reforming the justice system, strengthening security agencies, combating corruption, and enhancing community-based conflict resolution.

To this end, there is therefore the need to train and equip the Nigeria police Force.

‎ Prosecuting offenders of any of such wonton killings, ending the culture of impunity, is essential to deter future crimes. Also essential is the need to combat banditry and Terrorism, enhance conflict resolution, increase economic opportunities and reduce “Jungle Justice.

Additionally, securing the nation’s borders through improved surveillance can help prevent the influx of illegal weapons and foreign
‎criminals.

It is hoped that when these measures are implemented, the rate of killings would reduce drastically in Nigeria.
