The Edo State consumer protection committee has seized fake and expired drinks including Alcohol worth millions of Naira at a shop in Lawani street, New Benin Axis of Benin City.
During the raid, Chairman of the Committee, Comrade Osaro Iyamu
explained that the operation was carried out based on intelligence report that the shop was involved in unwholesome activities.
Comrade Iyamu said the Committee would continue to put in place modalities to ensure the protection of consumers in the state.
“Upon receiving intelligence report we swung into action to ensure that the shop that was housing fake and expired drinks is being intercepted and when we get there we ensured proper investigation and immediately I ordered it seizure”. He said.
The Edo State Chairman, consumer Protection committee advised traders to desist from such practices as the committee would not relent in its efforts to ensure standards.
