A statement by the Convener, Rivers Peace Initiative, Mr. Obinna Ebogidi while raising concerns that certain individuals and groups continue to take actions that risk aggravating the fragile situation in the state through sponsoring protests, spreading misinformation, maintained that Rivers State must not be allowed to drift further into instability.
He called on Political actors to commit to peaceful engagement and responsible leadership, Civil society groups to avoid becoming platforms for the escalation of tensions, Security agencies to remain professional and proactive in maintaining public safety and religious and traditional leaders to encourage calm and unity within their communities.
Mr Ebogidi added that all hands must be on deck to support the path to peace and good governance.
