Rivers Women Unite Group says it rejects what it described as political invasion and the imposition of emergency rule in its entirety while calling for the immediate reinstatement of all democratic institutions in Rivers State.
The group led by Dr. Nancy Chidi Nwankwo during a liberation walk said the unconstitutional military rule in Rivers State, masked as a state of emergency, is unjustified, uncalled for, and unacceptable.
While calling on well-meaning Nigerians including past leaders to urgently intervene in the Rivers situation said women and youths of the State can no longer remain silent in the face of intimidation, repression, and disenfranchisement.
According to the group, it will continue to rise in peaceful resistance and demand their rights to freedom, justice, and self-determination.
They called on civil society organizations, human rights groups, and the international community to speak out against this assault on democracy.
