In a significant move to promote grassroots participation in golf and strengthen community ties, Norrenberger Financial Group is set to host the 2026 Norrenberger International Golf Classic in partnership with Python International Golf Club, Port Harcourt.
The tournament, expected to attract business leaders, professionals, and golf enthusiasts to the Garden City, aligns with the company’s commitment to healthy stakeholder engagement beyond traditional business circles and contributing to the local economy.

Speaking during a press conference in Port Harcourt, Python International Golf Club Competition Secretary, Mr. Bako Emmanuel, said the event’s importance to the city cannot be overemphasized.
He expressed gratitude to Norrenberger for bringing the tournament to Port Harcourt, noting that it would stimulate both micro and macro-economic activities in Rivers State.
“We’re going to have about 140-144 golfers playing tomorrow. Aside from the golfers, we are going to have people who must carry their golf bags by the end of the day – that’s an important opportunity for their development,” Emmanuel said.
He added that youths interested in golf would be identified during the event, with promising talents offered training and scholarships as part of human capital development initiatives.
He also disclosed that most consumables for the competition would be sourced locally.
In an earlier interview with Radio Nigeria, Mr. Amani Momodu, Associate Director, Strategy and Sustainability at Norrenberger, said the tournament reflects the group’s dedication to community relations.
The South South Regional Head of Norrenberger, Mr. Ekene Okechukwu, echoed this, describing the maiden edition as a platform to foster positive economic impact.
Representative of Python International Golf Club, Mr. Loveday Deemua, highlighted the sport’s broader benefits. “Beyond physical fitness, golf provides a platform for interaction. This Golf Classic will enable players and corporate leaders to bond and share ideas,” he said.
Deemua noted that Python Golf Club, established in 1987, will mark its 40th anniversary next year, adding that the international nature of the sport brings together key decision-makers from Nigeria’s public and private sectors, ultimately benefiting the community and the economy.
