The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba, has commended the wife of the Delta State Governor, Deaconess Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, for bringing hope and relief to hundreds of children with special needs through the U Matter Charity Foundation’s free medical outreach in Ozoro.
Ogorugba, who warmly received the First Lady during the humanitarian intervention, described the initiative as a timely and compassionate programme that has touched countless lives and reaffirmed the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable citizens across Delta State.
The comprehensive outreach attracted hundreds of children with disabilities, their parents, caregivers, healthcare professionals, volunteers, community leaders and government officials.
Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, comprehensive health screenings, diagnosis, treatment and counselling from qualified medical personnel.
Parents and caregivers were also educated on proper healthcare management, nutrition, rehabilitation and the importance of early intervention in addressing developmental and physical challenges.
One of the major highlights of the programme was the presentation of wheelchairs to children with mobility challenges. The gesture brought joy to beneficiaries and their families, many of whom expressed gratitude for the life-changing support that will improve the children’s mobility, independence and overall quality of life.
The U Matter Charity Foundation also distributed food items, educational materials, electronic learning devices and other relief materials to support the beneficiaries and ease the financial burden on their families.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, reiterated her commitment to promoting inclusive healthcare and ensuring that vulnerable members of society are not left behind.
She stressed that every child deserves access to quality healthcare, education, love and equal opportunities regardless of physical or developmental challenges, adding that the U Matter Charity Foundation would continue to extend compassion, hope and practical assistance to underserved communities across the state.
Mrs. Oborevwori urged parents and caregivers not to lose hope but to continue providing the love, care and encouragement their children need to thrive.
Commending the First Lady’s sustained investment in programmes that uplift vulnerable groups, Ogorugba said the outreach reflects a government that places premium value on the health, dignity and wellbeing of its people, particularly children whose circumstances require special attention.
He assured the First Lady of the council’s continued support for initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery, promoting social inclusion and enhancing the welfare of residents of Isoko North Local Government Area.
The council chairman also encouraged parents and caregivers to take advantage of similar interventions whenever they are organised, noting that early medical attention remains critical to improving the lives of children with special needs.
