The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election recorded a massive turnout of party members across the 25 local government areas of Delta State, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerging victorious in a landslide.
The exercise was largely peaceful and orderly as registered APC members conducted themselves calmly while voting for their preferred aspirants, despite minimal security presence in several polling centres.
At Oshimili South Ward 9, party members queued behind agents of their preferred presidential aspirants in line with the party’s voting procedure.
Similarly, at Otor-Igho Ward 13 in Isoko federal constituency, the APC presidential primary election witnessed a peaceful and impressive turnout of party faithful, as members trooped out in large numbers to participate in the electoral process conducted in line with party guidelines.
Announcing the results at the APC State Secretariat in Asaba, the Delta State Collation Officer and Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, declared President Tinubu winner of the primary election in the state after polling 407,646 votes.
According to Oborevwori, the APC in Delta State has a total of 467,815 registered members, out of which 407,646 were accredited and participated in the exercise.
He said Tinubu’s only challenger, Mr. Osifo Osayamen Stanley, failed to secure a single vote.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu scored 407,646 votes to overwhelmingly defeat his challenger, Mr. Stanley Osifo, who polled zero votes,” Oborevwori stated.
“By the powers conferred on me as the State Coordinator and Returning Officer, I hereby declare President Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the APC presidential primary election in Delta State and returned elected as the party’s presidential candidate.”
Agents of both aspirants, Sir Funkekeme Solomon for President Tinubu and Kelvin Ezekiel for Osifo Osayamen Stanley, signed the result sheets and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, describing it as peaceful and rancour-free.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the declaration, Governor Oborevwori commended party faithful for turning out en masse to support President Tinubu, noting that the impressive participation reflected the APC’s growing strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He added that the successful conduct of the primary election demonstrated the party’s readiness to secure victory in the 2027 polls.
