JTF SEEKS NDDC’S SUPPORT TO CURB OIL THEFT

Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has reiterated the commitment of the Commission to collaborate with security operatives to improve security and facilitate development of Niger Delta region.
Dr. Ogbuku who made the commitment during a courtesy call by Joint Task Force, South South, Operation Delta Safe, OPDS, at NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt Rivers State, told the delegation that NDDC is building Army Jetty in Warri to aide security in the area.
The Managing Director who noted that the commission was being funded by International Oil Companies IOCs, acknowledged that funding partners would be able to meet their statutory contributions when oil production increases.
The Chief Executive Officer of NDDC asked OPDS to assist in curbing kidnapping as well as protection of infrastructural amenities in various communities.
Making his presentation, Commander Joint Task Force, South South, Operation Delta Safe, OPDS, Rear Admiral John Okeke said they were in the commission to seek collaborati to boost their operations.
Rear Admiral Okeke who said they have mandate to protect oil installations in different communities, expressed happiness that oil production has increased recently.
The OPDS Commander appreciated NDDC for projects cited in their bases but requested that more be done to enhance their activities.
Deputy Commanders from sister security agencies were part of the delegation.
